My name is Eric Koske. I am Captain of the IKV Riskadh on TrekMUSE and there I
am know as 'Krenath'. I like Klingon very much but do not speak it very well
yet. I'm trying to learn to speak it well.
The rather stilted sound of the English paragraph above results from composing
it first in Klingon and trying to translate it back. :) Please comment on my m
istakes.
Not yet attending college, I have no current major to translate, but I plan to
study De'wI'mey (computers) from both the hardware and software angles. Anyway
, my net time is typically spent on the MU*es or bugging others, or both.
Having been a Trek Fan for (Only YEARS? Feels like afew centuries at least...)
quite a while, I have collected (accumulated, hoarded) quite a lot of Trek mem
orabilia, with a focus on things Klingon. Three Klingon models hang from my ce
iling with a fourth to join them soon, and a three-foot tall paper version of t
he symbol of the Klingon Empire adornd one wall next to a caricature of me as a
Klingon. On another side of my room, a latex Klingon forehead rests on the wi
g stand.
Well, those of you who haven't skipped the rest of this message yet now know an
other fact about me: I talk a lot. Krankor knows this already, qar'a' Krankor?
:) Anyway, my interest in learning tlhIngan Hol is quite genuine.
I look forward to posting bubling attempt to converse in the Warrior's Tongue,
as I'm sure noone yet refers to it, and having my attempt orrected profusely, b
ut if one doesn't try, one never learns, and without help, learning wrong is al
most as bad, eh?
I am also a Wizard on a MUSH whose universe is undergoing restructuring, but as
soon as I get the other Wiz to agree (he subscribes to this list, might not be
hard!) I would like to invite the members of this list to visit in order to ha
ve areal-time forum in which to practice tlhIngan conversational skills. Addre
ss to be posted as soon as he convinces local net-gods that traffic is not a ba
d thing. :)
(Yes, I DO talk this much in real-life!)
