\The issue of the name of the Klingon home world came up. The story I heard
\from Okrand was that they came to him to come up with a name for the home
\world (when they did the Nextrek episode that took them there). He submitted
\a bunch of names for them to pick from, but in the end, they decided to fall
\back on "the Klingon home world". Yet, yes, the tape does seem to think that
\it's Qo'noS. And then there are the arguments for "tlhIng" or "tlhIngSay".
\My pet theory is that the planet goes by an *awful lot* of names, much to
\the confusion of outworlders, who, dazed by the whole mess, fall back on
\"the Klingon home world" (someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but as I rememb
e
\r
\it, that phrase has only been used by FedHeads-- not native Klingons (Worf
\counts as a FedHead)).
According to Okrand, Kronos was supposed to be the official name
of the homeworld as of ST6. My take is that the movie didn't make that very
clear, so it might still be up in the air. And Klinzhai is obviously
the name of the planet in Klingonaase, which may or may not have anything
to do with its name in tlhIngan Hol. No reason to assume that the whole
planet has one language; Earth ceratinly doesn't...
As far as native Klingons referring to the homeworld, I know Keylehr referred
to it as "the Klingon homeworld"; I *think* Gowron did as well, in either
the episode where he becomes Emperor, or in Redemption... Keylehr probably
counts as a FedHead, so I'd have to go back and watch the eps to see...
Any idea when you'll hit national TV? :)
