Well, here's my whole two cents, for what they're worth:
Chill out, dude. In a short time, you'll be able to tell which is I and
which is l very quickly, because the mind (wonderful invention) starts
imposing pattern reecognition on what you read. Your example: yIlI.
Well, I didn't have any problem at all, because my mind recognized the yI-
imperative prefix right off. Then, the rest fell into place.
This is especially true because a lot of places that you can find I you
won't find l and vice-versa.
It sure isn't worth all the screaming and crying.
Same thing with root verbs and nouns. At first you run around looking up
'vIp-oQ'. After a few tries, you find 'vI-poQ'. Soon, your brain start
recognizing the common prefixes, and suffixes, and it imposes that
structure on what you read. Once in a great while will I mix up the
root-prefix-suffix thing. Mostly, I just go right to the root, no problem.
I don't mean to sound uncaring about your plight, but honest, unless you
have pattern-recognition problems (I know some do, so I don't ignore that)
you will start being able to tell the difference automatically.
You brain is your friend. :) ('Course, it would be hell to have it as
your enemy.)
