I stand by my strong stand against changing the spelling. Again, the official
policy of this list is that we will use standard spelling. What you do in your
personal correspondance is your own business. This has been hashed through
many times and I'm not going to go into it again, save one comment: despite
A.APPLEYYARD's concerns for 'releasing casing for its usual roles', there is
no such usual role in Klingon. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that
in Klingon there is any such thing as capitalizing proper nouns or titles. In
fact, this is not even a universal human trait; there is, for instance, no
upper or lower case in Hebrew. Emphasis can be provided in several ways, eithe
r
by the semantic mechanisms of -'e' and -qu', or by punctuation, such as
underlining, etc. I personally use asterisks, such as:
*DaH* Dayaj'a'? --NOW do you understand?
Also, remember that emphasis is usually implied by a redundant pronoun. Thus:
qalegh --I see you
ghobe', SoH qalegh jIH --No, *I* see *you*.
Something definitely needs to go into the FAQ about this, if it isn't already.
