Well, I talk to our guinea pigs (yIHmeymaj: note the use of
"maj", not "ma'"). As my wife says, you can always reason with a
guinea pig, but it won't do either of you much good.
But I was kinda wondering whether anyone would trip over
"DaSpu'", which is not a plural but a word translated as "boot
spike". Presumably it's a compound, but the 2nd element "pu'",
appears as a WORD only with the meaning "phaser". Maybe an old
word for "spike", "pointed weapon or implement", "bayonet" came
into use for the higher-tech weapon -- perhaps originally as
military slang -- and, again maybe, eventually lost its older
meanings except in surviving compounds such as "DaSpu'".
