Of course, there is even Another alternative:
If one assumes that the Klingon empire and culture is as old as or
even older than human/federation, AND one assumes that there are
many many individual planets in the empire, it could follow that a
number of different pIqaD could develop.
I will refrain from listing numerous arguments in support of this,
and cut to the chase: what this means is if YOU wish to use a
complicated system, then do so, under the assumtion that that is
the system used on YOUR planet of origin... someone else who wants
a simple system can use it too, under the same assumtion.
All that remains then is for the "official" system to be determined,
for which we go to the reigning Emporer (default to Okrand? ), but
in the end all that amounts to is the pIqaD to use for State Documents
and Functions.... any other business can be conducted in the
dialect/pIqaD of your choice.
I am not a linguist, so perhaps this idea pushes the bounds of "making thsi
as close to an evolved language as possible", ... but maybe that is a
small price to pay for an idea which will let everyone get the most enjoyment
out of this language.
I personally prefer a wonderfully obfuscated pIqaD, but I'm not about to
insist someone else use the same. If this means that I must learn both
obfuscated and Official versions, fine: learning them at the same time
could actually be interesting.
Does this sound plausible?
