Compared to TKD, this Vulcan booklet looks astoundingly primitive. The
writer is evidently (a) not a linguist, and (b) very much taken with
Japanese. Features borrowed from Japanese include:
* "Whispered" final -u
* Subject-Object-Verb word order
* Case marking with postposed particles
This one is particularly striking -- compare
Japanese ga/o with "Vulcan" ra/ro
* "Vulcan" ta = Japanese ka
* "Vulcan" -nai = Japanese -sen
* "Vulcan" ni- meaning "second" = Japanese ni- with the same meaning
* Compare "Vulcan" kana meaning "language" with J. kana meaning "letter"
All in all, it seems silly and uninspired. I hope the real ST
authorities can do better.
