A while back, there was a *Time* or *Newsweek* article on Ethiopia, in
passing, it referred to *ferengi* (or was it *verengi*?  I should've
saved the article), and gave the English meaning as "foreigner(s?)".
So...perhaps the answer is "Amharic."
