Oh, there are some other fun ones. Check "bol" on the Klingon-English
side.
I recently bought myself one of those little hand-held electronic
scheduler/address-book thingies, with a mind towards entering the Klingon
vocabulary into the memo part of it and using it for quick look-ups.
Lacking the patience to wait until I could get a computer link for it, I
started typing them all in by hand. I'm into the "p"'s now (in the
original list; I'll be putting in the new words afterwards), and I tell ya,
there's no better way for getting a feel for how many words are out there!
I don't remember all of them, so it may not be the greatest vocab teacher,
but at least I have a shot at recalling that there *is* a word for this or
that. Also ran across some synonymns (e.g. chetvI'/DuS), and some lovely
word-jokes (joy'=torture (v), mul=be stubborn (like a mule)). Also a lot
of near-synonymns; words translated by words of very close meanings in
English. Not sure why.
Oh, and some irregular plurals or whatever. I just did a grep on my online
list to give me some likely candidates, here's what I got:
qawHaq data banks (singular) (n)
begh deflectors (n)
cha torpedoes (n)
chuyDaH thrusters (n)
Duj instincts (n); ship, vessel (n)
ghob ethics (n)
HoSDo' energy beings (n)
jo resources (n)
lolSeHcha attitude-control thrusters (n)
negh soldiers (n)
nIvnav pajamas (n)
no' ancestors (n)
nuHHom small arms (n)
paQDI'norgh teachings (n)
paSlogh socks (n)
pIgh ruins (n)
pugh dregs (n)
pu'DaH phaser banks (n)
qawHaq memory banks (n)
QaS troops (n)
Quv coordinates (n)
ray' targets (n)
to' tactics (n)
yInroH life signs (n)
yopwaH pants (n)
To be sure, some of these are only plural in form in the English, but I
threw them in anyway. negh is an interesting one!
