Oh? I always assumed the weapon in question (which *I* prefer to translate
as "oversized potato peeler") was a betleH. In TNG Klingon, of course,
eevrything is possible.
Incidentally, I've had a horrid thought. As we know, in the ST movie
universe, Okrand is coaching people; from what he keeps babbling on about
with Maltz and stuff, his is obviously a universe in which contact with
Klingons is still not widespread --- even in CK. In TNG, the Klingons and
the Feds interact all the time. Could it be, oh could it be, SuvwI'pu' quv,
that between the language Okrand is describing and what passes for Klingon
which we hear on TNG, a change of emperor, and thus of dialect, has intervened?
A dialect in which baH has *become* baa, and Sojvetlh 'oH nuq'e' has
*become* sojvets ow n\- uk ?
Christ, I hope not.
