I know you called your question rhetorical, but I have something to say
about it. It reminds me of that nightmarish experience after I posted
the question about {porghpu' porghDu' joq porghmey joq}. If memory serves,
Krankor got so ticked off due to all the pointless rambling discussion
this generated in the course of only about one day, that he refused to
post in English for a month!

Anyways, {butlh} is one of those words like {lam} or {Soj} because it has
no real practical usage for a plural suffix. I don't consider {butlhwIj}
a legitimate part of my anatomy any more than dirt on any other part of me.
Altho, Klingon does have a whole seperate word for this sort of dirt. Maybe
its usage just turned up a lot for some reason. I dunno. How do Klingons
feel about {butlhchaj}. I think the question of plurality is cockamamy,
since the dirt is collective! TKD lists it in English as "dirt under
fingernails," not one fingernail. How can you have dirts under fingernails?

Dunno.
