Hmm, I'm uncertain what you mean by "<<tax>> isn't within brackets". Are yo=
u looking at a digital version of the book?
When two different definitions are given for a word, it's often to help avo=
id ambiguity. As you say, the English word "tax" is ambiguous, but the addi=
tion of "fine" makes it clear which meaning of the word is intended.
It would be very surprising if the Klingon word had the same ambiguity, so =
I'd advise you to stick to the "evil king" use of the word.

there are two ways one can use the verb <<tax>> (or at least two that i kno=
w of). lets take a look at the following examples :
1. the captain's attempts to exit the meypur nebula, were taxing on the warb=
ird's engines.
2. the evil king taxed his people to the point of extinction
..and now comes the time to open TKD p.106 and read :
rup fine,tax (v)
as we see the word <<tax>> isn't within brackets, which would give the impre=
ssion that its meaning is limited to the meaning of example number 2.
so the question arises..
can I use {rup} in both ways (as illustrated in the aforementioned examples=
), or doing so I would be in canon violation, thus bringing down upon me the=
wrath of the Ca'non master ?
