I believe "outdated vocabulary" refers to instances where we have made up n=
ew constructions to express things that we did not have vocabulary for prev=
iously.

For example, Rohan recently mentioned that thanks to the addition of canoni=
cal words for "gold" and "lead", he could update his translation of "The Ri=
me of the Ancient Mariner", which he had previously called {baS 'ugh} ("hea=
vy metal") and {baS SuD} ("yellow/green/blue metal") and not been too pleas=
ed with it.

So, it's not the canonical terms that have become outdated, but rather our =
own innovations which have become obsolete.

Subject: [Tlhingan-hol] Outdated vocabulary/grammar

i have noticed on various posts of fellow members that when they have refer=
red to some older texts, they have used the description

"..they (the passages) contain outdated vocabulary/grammar.."

can someone explain what this means ? i could understand "outdated grammar"=
; meaning that these passages have used grammar that has evolved in its ab=
ility to express the desired context.

but what about the "outdated vocabulary" ? does this mean that there are ca=
non words which have been discarded and are not any more in use ?
