I just set up a Color Quickcam on my desktop Linux box, using the cqcam
drivers.. I wrote a small shell script that takes a pic every 30 seconds,
then ftp's it up to my active web server.. I am doing it on a lan, but there
is no reason that a 28.8 modem could not handle the load.. the jpg is only
about 30-40k.. I found most of my stuff by going to www.dejanews.com and
doing a seach for Linux and webcam...

Any of you have any experence hooking up a web camera to a linux
box ?
Is it possible to do so? Here is what I want to do. Multable
camers
feeding photo's to multable web pages residing on a Linux box.
Folks would be able to access a url containing an updated photo
that
changes every few minutes. Apache server on the Linux box. What
type of hardware and connection do I need? Any idea of bandwidth?
Can a dial-up line handle it? Or would it take ISDN or better?
