What you are looking for is /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers. I haven't tried the
following, but I think it will work.
:0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X -bpp 32 vt7 :0
:1 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X -bpp 8 vt8 :1
Again, I haven't tried this. YMMV.
