Hi Guy,
I don't know if this will cure your problem, but trying to use ntalk I've got
all that stuff until I updated my /etc/hosts.allow file adding an entry
with the full name of my machine, the "ALL: LOCAL" entry seems to be not
sufficient :-(.
I added something like: "ALL: mypc.mydomain" and restarted inetd services
and all went well :-).
