On 17-Nov-98 Scottie complained about What type of HD?:

No. But, I can tell you what I know.
Using a Seagate drive here. It gives seek errors on boot but, that's
the only time. Runs like a champ. Used to worry me when I first
installed it. It's been running for about a year now with no changes in
this so I think it's safe now.
Got a Maxtor on a 'Doze box. It's been acting up since the day I
installed it. I expect to wake up some morning with my wife screaming
at me that she's lost everything. Heard of similar problems from others.
Have _heard_ of Western Digital problems. Can't verify that. I have one
running great but, it's a coupla years old (OK 4 or 5 years old) and
may not suffer from the problems I've heard from others about them.
Can't recall a hearing a single problem anywhere about Fujisu drives.
Might be safe to use.
Personally, I'm gonna buy a couple of more Seagates and live with the
errors during boot since they haven't affected anything more than a
couple of lines in the logs.

I distinctly remember forgetting that.
