Another company has seen the light... <grin>

In case you're interested:

National Instruments is now offering LabVIEW for Linux:

http://www.natinst.com/linux/

It's not fully complete (drivers are missing), but it's possible to use
third-party replacements for the missing parts with a bit of work (according
to NI, that is)

LabVIEW is a kind of graphical programming environment, specialised for all
kinds of measurement setups, I/O, data acquisition etc.pp.

As I know of quite a few companies using LabVIEW for their measurements on
Suns and M$ PCs, this should further Linux' market appeal another bit...
