Hi Dave and Hentosh,

Emacs can do keyboard cut&paste with or without X:

  SELECT = go to one end of region, ctrl-space,
                 go to other end of region.

  COPY = ctrl-w + ctrl-y

  CUT = ctrl-w

  PASTE = go to insertion point, hit ctrl-y

Emacs can do mouse cut&paste only in X windows:

  SELECT&COPY = wipe region, or click one end, right-click other end
    Single/double/tripple click on first end to select by character/word/line.

  CUT = double right-click at either end of region

  PASTE = middle  click

Notes:
. The mouse method does not use the keyboard at all.
On DOS, the mouse method requires using the mouse and keyboard.
. 3-button mouse *emulation*:   middle = left+right.
