Mm.  Maybe, but there is no standard command to teach.  In Linux, halt
and reboot are safe.  In some flavors of UNIX, they don't even exist. 
In some, shutdown will cause problems if given the wrong arguments.  Ad
nauseum.

This is a Linux list, and I don't have any problem talking about the
Linux way of doing things without adding five caveats about what won't
work on SCO or AIX.
