Charles, I don't have a lot of experience with pcmcia ethernet cards, 
and none with combos.  I have heard that some of the combo cards are
problematic.  Most of the ethernet cards appear to be no problem, but
again, check the "Linux for Laptops" list for specifics of what works
best.

I'm using, frequently, a generic 56K pcmcia fax modem and an Iomega
scsi zip card with no problems.
