Well, it can be as simple as going over to the other system (you
need a shell account in order to do that, of course) and doing
a 

export DISPLAY=my.machine.name:0.0
run app &

You also have to negotiate access on the other system. Many might
have 'xhost -' set, which disables any of this sort of stuff; others
will selectively add your hostname in. (If both machines are yours,
then you don't have to worry .. :)
