cut&paste doesn't work

Hi,
After I installed RH5.2 and booted to runlevel 5. I found cut&paste with
mouse doesn't work in X applications. My X server is AX4.1, display
manager is kdm and window manager is kde. In linux console the cut&paste
fuction works well.
Can you shed any lights on this?
