I tried many things but I still get the following error: XFree86 fails to start on fixed font error.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Content-Type: text/plain;
	charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

The error message says:

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

I have the 70dpi and 100dpi fonts installed and have confirmed this. And =
it continues to fail.

I went through the .Xdefaults and delete references to 'fixed' for =
fonts.
And still they have failed.

What fonts is it trying to look for? What should I do to correct the =
problem.

Help will be appreciated.

Edward Ing
