I upgraded a few things on my RH5.1 box at home (heh, please don't ask me
to recall which ones!), then installed the gnome packages (using the
install script) from a RH5.2 cdrom. I then ran it with afterstep (also
upgraded) running as my window manager.
VERY IMPRESSED! It's stable, very functional, and obviously some things
are not quite finished.
The gnome version of midnight commander (gmc) was missing (got an
installation complaint about this). But it is all working very nicely.
So this is going to be the default desktop environment that redhat is going
to be using once it is "finished"? Well, I think they are on a winner
here...
Cheers
Tony
