Can't answer your question BUT: why do you think it needs an xterm to
work? I've used it off and on for several months without using an xterm
and it works fine.

I believe you just need to learn how to add it to your config file to
get it on a button. I've done that before but, not lately.

I currently use XFCE and it's a simple matter of defining a button
while working in XFCE and it's always there.

I haven't used FVWM or FVWM2 in a long time but, I think it should be
DisplayTransients or displayTransients to get it to work right.
