hrmmm for linux/unix programming in C.. and c in general isn't
there only 1 choice?

This is basically -THE- bible of C programming.
yes, the cost is a little high, but, its just
damn good. Ask most any programmer and they'll
know of it as the K&R book
another excellent book for linux specific C programming
(and since is very close to posix compliant most of the
code will work for other unix as well) would be
