I'm attempting to install RedHat 5.1 on a second IDE disk (8 GByte)
on a Gateway 133 MHz box. When I get to the formatting section the
GUI pops up with the following:
Device Requested Actual Type
hda1 1547M 1547M DOS 16-bit > 32
hdb1 2008M 2008M 0x0e
hdb2 6040M 6040M 0x0f
Drive summaries:
Drive Geom Total Used Free
hda (787/64/63) 1549M 1547M 2M
hdb (1023/64/63) 2014M 8048M -6034M
That's right - it shows a *minus* 6043M free in that last line.
The problem is that when I delete the hdb1 and hdb2 partitions
and attempt to add the usual root, swap and usr partitions it
only recognizes and lets me use the 2008M available in hdb1.
For some reason it doesn't recognize the remaining 6 Gb at all.
Any ideas as to what the problem is? Thank you.
