Howdy. Running RedHat 5.1 and trying to dump to a
Seagate Scorpion 24.
I'm backing up about 2gb worth of data and dump is
blowing an error about
detecting the end of the tape. I've tried a couple
different dump
options, but here is the one I thought would work:
/sbin/dump 0uBf 12288000 /dev/nst0 /dev/hda5
I've also played with length and density options, but
to no avail. The
dump output looks to show the correct amount of tape
necessary, but still
doesn't even get through 2gb without choking. I'm
using Sony DDS3 125m
tapes. My SCSI controller is an Adaptec 7890, so I'm
using the aic7xxx
scsi module (I believe this is experimental, but it
works fine.) I
haven't changed any dip switches as the included
Seagate Unix
Compatibility Guide doesn't refer to linux in any
way. Thanks for anyone
who can provide some guidance
