[OT]having difficulty with RH5.1, apache and php3

I am having difficulty getting apache compiled with php3 as a module. I
don't want to start a string of off topic posts, but was wondering if there
is someone who has done this who would not mind helping me figure out what
is going on. I have read both the apache and php installation and readme
files, but am still at a loss as to what I am doing incorrect. It seems
fairly straight forward, but then again I'm new at this and it just does not
seem to want to work for me. By the way apache and Red Hat are working, I
also have mySQL working, but when I access a php3 document through Netscape
it just gives me the source code.
Anyone have time to answer a few questions directly?
