INND problems with initial config

Hello,
I'm trying to setup a Linux RedHat 5.0 box with a limited newsgroup
server. I've followed the instructions on the INND tip page to the
letter. I installed the whole affair as user 'news' so that no
permission and ownership problems arise. I've ran inncheck. inncheck
-pedantic and inncheck -perms. None generate any error, all files exist
and with the proper permissions set. The problem is that when I run
top, all I see running is (among others) rc.news and innwatch. There
are no errors in the news log directory. The only errors that I see are
in /var/log/messages and they are generated by user news, they are:
cant setgroups Operation not permitted
and
cant bind Permission denied
Any suggestions? Anybody know what I've overlooked? Help!!!
