It will easily if you setup your PPP using just Linuxconf, after you
upgrade the linuxconf and ppp updates for rh5.1.

Remove your current
ppp config first.   Use the PPP/SLIP/PLIP choice in linuxconf
to set it up, and be sure to press the PAP enable button, since

almost all ISPs need that.
