routed: Updates the routing table that sends network packets in the right
direction. You mmay need this when using ppp.
sendmail: Only if you use your machine as a mailserver.
postgresql: A multi-user SQL database that you probbly won't need on a
standalone workstation unless you are developing database apps.
smb: A networking protocol commonly used on MS DOS/Win machines. You won't
need this unless you need to share files or printers with MS boxes over a
LAN.
snmpd: A network management daemon that you won't need on a standalone
workstation.
