Question on hardware support

I am going to buy a new computer and I am curious if anyone has had
expierience with a Trident 9750 AGP w/Tv out Video card?? How about a
Yamaha based Sound card? Would it be smarter to get a known supported
video card such as a S3? and get a SB card? I like the Trident card for
a number of reasons, but if it won't work under linux I'll get something
else.
As long as I don't get a Winmodem, are most other 56k internal modems
ok?
