i've been having a problem with xlock for as long as i can recall, and
i've finally been pushed over the edge to ASK for some some help...
the setup: i'm running Red Hat 5.1 (Intel, fully updated), and have
xscreensaver running via the gnome 'background properties' dialog;
according to ps(1), it's running as:
xscreensaver -timeout 5 -xrm *programs: xlock -batchcount 1 -cycles 1
-size 1 -ncolors 64 -saturation 1 -imagefile XLock -modelist XLock
-nice 19 -nolock -mode random
the problem: when the screen lock kicks in, all i get is a blank screen
with the following error message printed in yellow at the top-left of my
screen:
xlock, could not grab keyboard! (1)
xscreensaver: child pid xxxx (xlock) exited abnormally (code 1).
i.e., i never actully get to see any of the cute xlock screen hacks. if,
however, i manualy run xlock, it seems to work fine.
any advice on how to fix this?
thanks!
-matt
