This may not apply to you but, it fixed my BJC-610. Look in the RedHat
FAQ and you'll find a reference to Canon printers (it's way down the
list) and try what it says.

The gist of it is, there's a bug in the RHS-printfilters. You'll need
to go into /var/spool/lpd/lp and edit the file postscript.cfg  and
comment out the line that starts with Color=-........

As I said, not sure if it will work but, it fixed mine completely.

Now if I can only figger out how to make it stop resetting the printer
every other print job.....
