X: Video Display problems

Ok,
I have a STB Velocity 128 (8mb AGP) video card and a ViewSonic 1796DC
monitor. The highest video mode Xconfigurator will give me is 1024x at
16 bpp colors. I know it can display at higher video modes. How and
where do I go about getting the proper updates? I've tried looking
online already with not too much luck. Any Suggestions ?
