Hugo. read the lilo man page for details, but this is a kernal limitation. 
you need to add

append = "mem=127M"

to your lilo.conf. The reason hwy I use 127 instead of 128 is that this 
number is taken for granted, and it will try to use it all. apparantly some 
base memory may not be available. anyway 1mb is worth losing for safetys 
sake
