CoffeeShope visual Java program installation?

Greetings.
Has anyone been able to run this thing on an earlier version of the JDK
than 1.1.5? For some reason, 1.1.5 and 1.1.6 don't work on my system.
(They abort without issuing error messages.) I've downgraded to 1.1.3
in order to use Java again, but I get the message
/usr/local/CoffeeShop-1.1 strider[7]$ ./CoffeeShop.sh
Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread
when I try to run the program. Any Java/Linux gurus on here?
