Simply sendmail question

daemon@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (=?iso-8859-1?Q?Markus_D=F6hr?=)
Thu Nov 5 17:38:53 1998

From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Markus_D=F6hr?= <doehrm@aubi.de>
To: "'redhat-list@redhat.com'" <redhat-list@redhat.com>

What does the number in the mail header mean? I mean something like =
this:

[snip]
by igate.aubi.de (8.8.7/8.8.7)
[snap]

is it right, that the first number is the sendmail version and the =
second
the version of the configuration file?

I'm asking 'cause we've here another box running sendmail, then you see
8.8.8/8.6.2...
