I modified the X[C,c]linets file so that there were no references to other windows managers and added the line
"startkde". startx then takes me to the kde desktop as either root or user. Take a look for installation
documentation at www.kde.com. You might also find some useful info in the doc included with the kde rpms.
They're in html format.
