I have a single drive that currently has everything but /var,
/var/spool/postoffice ( has news and mail dirs, and symbolic links to
them from /var/spool ) /home, and /usr/local

It's at 42%.

What I'd like to do is make a dir on this partition/drive that 5.2 can
mount as the root filesystem rather than copy the dirs to a scratch
partition, unmount ( well I guess I'll have to boot off the floppy to do
this ) it, break it up into differnt paritions, etc.

What's the best way to do this? My 5.0 system is quite stable, but I'd
like to try out a "clean" install of 5.2 and have a go at it and see if
it's up to snuff for my tastes ( such as egcs and such ).

This way I can share the /home, /usr/local, /var, /var/spool, etc...

Thanks in advance.
