I was wondering if someone could help, I have a system with an 8.4 gig
Seagate drive, an adaptec 2940 UW controller and two Seagate SCSI UW 2gig
drives. After running the install on the system, the computer reboots,
gives error messages and prompts to take me into administrator mode.
First issue: The computer's bios doesn't identify the drive geometry
correctly. I was manually setting it to the settings listed on the drive of
16383,16,63 . Is this correct?
Second issue: Linux seems to improperly identify the drive geometry. How
do I tell it the correct settings?
Third issue: The IDE drive gives a seek error during bootup. Is this
because of the drive configuration issue?
Fourth issue: There are errors listed from the SCSI drives saying
block-major-8 not found. What does this mean and how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance for any help you could provide :)
