Hi, Michael,

Timid WAG:
Is the legacy app *printing to file* (as opposed to saving to ASCII or
something)? This stuff sorta looks like Epson-style printer code?? (Or
maybe even ANSI??)

Neither of which would display correctly on most terminals, I think?? 

just a thought...
