Trying to install RH

Hello,
I have an old machine with RH 4.2 on it.
The system boots pretty well on the hard drive.
I want to install RH 5 from an NFS Image but the installation procedure
cannot find the hard drive when I must choose between Disk Druid and
fdisk even if this disk is found when booting on it.
I remarqued that the nodes (hda, hda1, hda2, ...) have not been created in
/dev. Must I create them from the command line ?
Any idea ?
