I posted this question a few days ago. I can achive 800x600 resolution in
Win95, but only 640x480 under Linux.

Someone suggested I play with my /etc/X11/XF86Config file and I did. What
it boils down to is whenever I try to use 800x600, startx fails and I get
a blinking screen.

I have an older AT&T .31 pitch VGA monitor. I have chosen "generic"
monitor and also "custom" adding the appropriate numbers. Out of the list
Xconfigurator presents, does anyone know which monitor might come close to
mine?

Thanks,
John
