I am trying to correctly add an additional set of IP addresses to my
installation. The computer is sitting in a co-located space on an
ethernet network running 5.1.
I can't find any info on the proper ifconfig and route commands to add an
additional block of ip's that DON'T reside on the same subnet. For
example I currently have a working setup with the subnet
123.123.123.123-226 and now I want to add a new range of IP's. I only
have the one ethernet card (eth0). The new block of ip's is on a
different network such as 234.234.234.124-156 .
I have all the gateway, netmask, etc for both networks.
I know how to setup the first network with the proper network, gateway,
etc.. but how does one add the new IP's that are on the different
network. It's the route commands and sequence of them that I really can't
figure out. Almost all config's I've tried worked but most of them can't
be correct. I am also getting the following warning when running
traceroute:
traceroute: Warning: Multiple interfaces found; using xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx @
eth0
How do you add the proper routes and gateways and anything else that is
neccessary to add the "other" block of ip's???
