Errm, unlesss you want *everybody* to be able to change those scripts, I'd
recommend giving them 755 as permissions! This equals to -rwxr-xr-x, whereas
777 equals -rwxrwxrwx. Usually, I also change ownership of all files that I
place myself in "official" areas (e.g. /usr/local) to root.root, as I regard
this as "tidier" - only root should be able to mess around with /usr,
ordinary users should be restricted to their $HOME. This might not be as
important on a single user system, but as soon as you have more than one
user, it is definitely good practice.
