Modules. Where are they?

Dear Red Hats!
I have done these things:
cd /usr/src/linux
make mrproper
make xconfig
make dep
make clean
make zImage
make modules
make modules_install
cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/zImage /boot
pico /etc/lilo.conf #to modify lilo
reboot
When booting Linux writes:
Looking for modules... can't open: /lib/modules/prefered
What's wrong?
