Dave,
	The XFree86 FAQ has some info about the ChipId addition to the
XF86Config file.  I had also been surfing the x-windows related
newsgroups to find out any solutions.  That is where I had gotten teh
ChipRev line from.  That may also be in the Xfree86 FAQ but I don't
remember for sure.  There is some information posted on the XFree86 site
about multiple problems with ATI Rage IIc chipset.  Since I am no
hardware or software expert I couldn't tell you if it is due to my
hardware that my ATI card acts this way or what.  I hope this answers
